Ephesians 2:8,9
24 Forby grace you have been saved through faith. And that is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God such that no one can boast.
Reflection: My Daughter’s Names.
Written By: Pastor Jesse Caro
I mentioned yesterday my son’s name and how we came to name him Micah. I thought I might talk today about how my daughters got part of their names. I have mentioned this before but it has likely been at least 18 months. Chloe (my middle child) and Addison (my youngest) have great names. At least Kelly and I are partial to them. Chloe was named after a dear lady who would babysit Kelly when Kelly was young. Chloe Littlepage played a big part in Kelly’s life and our daughter bears that name in honor of her. Addison… that name we just loved. Over our second choice, Bethany (another great name).
Their middle names, however, are as meaningful as their first names. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2:8,9. We are saved by grace, through faith. This is God’s gift and not owing to our own effort. God gives us grace… and it is engaged by way of faith. Both of these are God’s gifts… the faith and the grace. All God. Zero percent owing to us. God has been so gracious to give us these precious gifts of grace and faith. So it is that Chloe and Addison have these names: Chloe Grace Caro and Addison Faith Caro. Great names, and a wondrous reminder of all the goodness of God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your gifts of grace and faith. We are reminded of the fact that we owe you everything because you gave us everything.
